Plantar Fasciitis is a very common and very painful foot condition. The Plantar Fascia runs along the bottom of the foot, over the arch and attaches into the heel bone. Most people will experience pain at the area where the plantar fascia attaches to the heel bone. This pain is worse after rest, like when you first step out of bed or have been sitting. The pain can also get worse the longer you are on your feet.

Some conditions like stress fractures, neuromas, neuritis, heel spurs and tendonitis can be confused with plantar fasciitis. That is why you should have a podiatric examination at our office to confirm your diagnosis. If X-Rays are needed, we can conveniently do this in our office!

Most patients will respond to treatment consisting of stretching, foot orthotics, and anti-inflammatory medications. Some patients will require steroid injections. Splints or walking casts are sometimes necessary.

For resistant cases, our office has a radial wave therapy unit. This therapy has an excellent success rate. It is not invasive and does not require injections or anesthesia.

We also offer the Topaz Radiofrequency procedure for plantar fasciitis. We use a minimally invasive technique which can be done in office! We do this procedure as an alternative to fasciotomy procedures for resistant cases.

Give our Podiatry office a call if you have any questions or if you would like to schedule an appointment!
